1978 – 2000

JPG was incorporated in Malaysia on 21 March 1978 as a private limited company under the name of Yule Catto Plantations Sdn Bhd. The company changed its name to Mahamurni Plantations Sdn Bhd (MPSB) on 12 May 1993.

In 1994, KULIM acquired 100% equity in the company from JCorp. The company changed its name to Johor Plantations Berhad on 12 February 2023 and converted to a public limited company on 20 February 2023.

Even in our emergent years, we held the progressive ideal that the longevity of our company was tied to ensuring sustainable use of resources in order to improve production and reduce costs — this belief is at the core of what we do, so much so KULIM became:

With the consolidation of our plantation assets and value-added services solely under MPSB’s banner in 2022, we are honing our focus to be one of the market’s standout agri players. We also strengthened our long-term sustainability strategy with our production of renewable energy, signing an MOU with Gas Malaysia.

THE NEW NAME GIVES THE COMPANY A SENSE OF ORIGIN SINCE ITS ESTATES, MILLS AND OPERATIONS ARE ALMOST ENTIRELY LOCATED IN THE STATE OF JOHOR.

2023

On the 20th of February 2023, MPSB was converted to a public limited company, changing its name to Johor Plantations Berhad.

For us, this identity evolution provides us with a sense of origin since most of our plantation assets are located in Johor and reflects our pride as Johor’s highest yield oil palm producer.

  • PERSATUAN PEMULIHARAAN HIDUPAN LIAR (WCS)

    Persatuan Pemuliharaan Hidupan Liar (WCS) adalah sebuah organisasi bukan keuntungan yang berdedikasi untuk melindungi hidupan liar dan ekosistem semula jadi. Kolaborasi kami tertumpu pada beberapa strategi pemuliharaan, termasuklah menetapkan dan menguruskan kawasan dilindungi. Kawasan-kawasan ini menjadi pusat perlindungan untuk hidupan liar, mengekalkan kepelbagaian biologi, dan mempromosi pengurusan sumber serta tanah secara lestari. Program kolaborasi yang dilaksanakan adalah termasuk melindungi habitat, membanteras penyeludupan hidupan liar, dan merangka pelan pemuliharaan untuk memastikan kelangsungan kehidupan beberapa spesies terancam.

    Yayasan Earthworm, dikenali dahulu sebagai The Forest Trust (TFT), adalah sebuah organisasi bukan keuntungan yang berdedikasi untuk mempromosi kelestarian dan amalan penyumberan beretika dalam pelbagai industri, khususnya minyak sawit. Menjalin kerjasama dengan Yayasan Earthworm melambangkan komitmen kami untuk mengguna pakai amalan-amalan yang beretika dan bertanggungjawab.

  • PERSATUAN PENCINTA ALAM MALAYSIA (MNS)

    Persatuan Pencinta Alam Malaysia (MNS) adalah sebuah organisasi bukan kerajaan (NGO) yang tertumpu pada usaha pemuliharaan warisan semula jadi Malaysia. Kami komited dan aktif:

    • Melibatkan diri dalam semua bengkel, acara dan aktiviti MNS
    • Menyertai projek pemuliharaan dan lawatan padang
    • Mengambil peluang untuk menjalin hubungan dengan ahli-ahli lain atau pakar bidang
    • Menyokong dan melibatkan diri dalam inisiatif serta kempen pemuliharaan MNS
  • INISIATIF PELAPORAN GLOBAL (GRI)

    Inisiatif Pelaporan Global (GRI) mempunyai sebuah komuniti yang terdiri daripada beberapa organisasi yang terlibat secara aktif dalam pelaporan kelestarian dan menggunakan rangka kerja GRI sebagai panduan. Kami komited untuk:

Kami berdedikasi untuk mencapai sasaran penggunaan 100% minyak sawit yang bebas daripada penebangan hutan dan penukaran ekosistem semula jadi), serta berusaha mendapatkan 100% minyak sawit lestari yang diperakui RSPO.

  • KOMPAK GLOBAL PERTUBUHAN BANGSA-BANGSA BERSATU (UNGC)

    UNGC, atau Kompak Global Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu, adalah suatu inisiatif sukarela yang menggalakkan perniagaan dan organisasi untuk mengguna pakai polisi serta amalan lestari yang selaras dengan tanggungjawab sosial kami. Kami berusaha untuk menyediakan suatu rangka kerja yang akan menyelaraskan pengoperasian dan strategi kami dengan sepuluh prinsip global yang umum termasuklah perkara melibatkan hak asasi manusia, tenaga kerja, alam sekitar dan antirasuah.

  • MINYAK SAWIT LESTARI MALAYSIA (“MSPO”)

    MSPO, atau Minyak Sawit Lestari Malaysia Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil, adalah suatu skim pensijilan yang dibangunkan oleh Majlis Pensijilan Minyak Sawit Malaysia (MPOCC) untuk menggalakkan pemupukan amalan lestari dalam industri minyak sawit Malaysia. Kami berusaha untuk menunjukkan komitmen kami terhadap pengeluaran minyak sawit yang mampan melalui pensijilan MSPO. Pematuhan terhadap syarat pensijilan MSPO membawa beberapa kelebihan, termasuklah pengiktirafan sebagai pengeluar minyak sawit yang lestar, akses pada peluang pasaran yang mengutamakan penyumberan lestari, dan kebenaran untuk meletakan logo MSPO pada produk yang diperakui. Penerimaan sijil ini menunjukkan komitmen organisasi kami untuk memikul tanggungjawab alam sekitar dan sosial dalam industri minyak sawit.

  • MEJA BULAT BERKENAAN MINYAK SAWIT LESTARI (“RSPO”)

    Keahilan RSPO boleh dipohon secara sukarela dan terbuka kepada semua organisasi yang terlibat dalam mana-mana bahagian di rantaian bekalan minyak sawit atau berminat untuk mempromosi amalan pengeluaran minyak sawit yang lestari. Untuk menjadi ahli RSPO, terdapat beberapa kriteria tertentu yang perlu dipenuhi di samping mematuhi Prinsip dan Kriteria RSPO untuk Pengeluaran Minyak Sawit Lestari. Johor Plantations Berhad menyertai RSPO pada tahun 2004 di bawah nama syarikat induk kami, Perbadanan Johor. Syarikat kami berdedikasi untuk mengekalkan status pensijilan yang diterima dan mematuhi Prinsip & Kriteria RSPO sepenuhnya.

  • WILDLIFE CONSERVATION SOCIETY (WCS)

    Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to conserving wildlife and protecting natural ecosystems. Our collaboration focuses on a range of conservation strategies, including establishing and managing protected areas. These protected areas provide safe havens for wildlife, preserve biodiversity, and promote sustainable land and resource management. The collaboration program also includes protecting habitats, combating wildlife trafficking, and implementing conservation plans to ensure the survival of key species.

  • EARTHWORM FOUNDATION (EF)

    Earthworm Foundation, formerly known as The Forest Trust (TFT), is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting sustainability and responsible sourcing practices in various industries, especially palm oil. Engaging with Earthworm Foundation signifies a commitment to responsible and ethical practices.

  • THE MALAYSIA NATURE SOCIETY (MNS)

    The Malaysia Nature Society (MNS) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on the conservation of Malaysia’s natural heritage. We are committed and active:

    • Involvement in MNS activities, events, and workshops
    • Participate in conservation projects and field trips
    • Networking opportunities with other members and experts in the field
    • Support and involvement in MNS conservation initiatives and campaigns
  • GLOBAL REPORTING INITIATIVE (GRI)

    Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has a community of organisations that are actively engaged in sustainability reporting and use the GRI framework as a guide. We are committed to:

    • Stay ahead of the curve and be the first in developments regarding GRI, the GRI Standards and trends in the sustainability reporting landscape
    • Equip the organisation with practical knowledge, tools and inspiration to achieve stronger internal alignment on corporate transparency
    • Gain first-hand understanding of best sustainability reporting practices
    • Foster global innovation through collaboration and improve the quality of disclosure
  • SASPO

    SASPO is a business initiative that brings companies together across varying sectors to tackle supply chain issues around palm oil and work towards increasing the supply and demand of certified sustainable palm oil in Singapore. SASPO, facilitated by WWF-Singapore, is a business initiative that brings companies together across varying sectors to tackle supply chain issues around palm oil and work towards increasing the supply and demand of certified sustainable palm oil. We are committed to 100% of palm oil consumed free from deforestation and conversion of natural ecosystems), and are committed to procure 100% RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil.

  • UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT (UNGC)

    UNGC, which stands for United Nations Global Compact, is a voluntary initiative that encourages businesses and organisations to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and practices. We are committed to provide a framework for businesses to align our operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles covering human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption.

  • MALAYSIAN SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL (MSPO)

    MSPO, which stands for Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil, is a certification scheme developed by the Malaysian Palm Oil Certification Council (MPOCC) to promote sustainable practices in the Malaysian palm oil industry. We are committed to demonstrate our commitment to sustainable palm oil production through MSPO certification. Compliance with MSPO certification provides several benefits, including recognition as a sustainable palm oil producer, access to market opportunities that prioritise sustainable sourcing, and the ability to use the MSPO logo on certified products. It also demonstrates our organisation’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility in the palm oil industry.

  • ROUNDTABLE ON SUSTAINABLE PALM OIL (RSPO)

    Membership in RSPO is voluntary and open to organisations that are involved in any part of the palm oil supply chain or have an interest in promoting sustainable palm oil practices. To become a member of RSPO, we must meet certain criteria and comply with the RSPO Principles and Criteria for Sustainable Palm Oil Production. Johor Plantations Berhad joined the RSPO in 2004 under the name of its parent company, Johor Corporation. The company is committed to maintaining the certification and full compliance with RSPO Principles & Criteria.
