TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS
The future of farming is digital-first. We aspire to inculcate innovation-led growth throughout our operations to safeguard our resilient, agile and sustainable approaches as we reshape the landscape of agriculture. Our technological initiatives give us a competitive advantage in the industry while optimising and transforming the way we work.
DIGITALISATION
We began pivoting to digitalised technology in 2003 as we saw the potential for optimisation even then, before the rest of the industry realised that going digital was the only feasible way forward. Since then, we have progressed by leaps and bounds - our digitalisation initiatives allow us to free up manual labour from monitoring, mapping, analysing and storing information and data on our plantations, streamlining our processes and increasing our efficiency.
JPG AGRO-TECH INFORMATION SYSTEM
Aims to optimise field-level management by combining the Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and the Oil Palm Monitoring Programme to capture agronomic and management data which gives a quick overview of an estate’s performance.
Drones are deployed to capture high-resolution aerial photographs, which are then integrated into available digital maps.
Equipped with unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to produce high-precision digital map.
Enhance land utilisation efficiency, accurately manage fertiliser application rates, and create precise field maps.
K-PLANT MOBILE HARVESTING
Our internally developed integrated plantation management system streamlines key business processes, operations, and management needs.
With the theme “Rise with Digital,” it digitises data collection and analysis through a centralised cloud infrastructure. This solution delivers yearly cost savings of over RM1.1 mil, real-time data, data forecasting, simplified processes, increased data accuracy, enhanced process efficiency, improved field process control, better UI/UX, positive work culture, GIS information, and seamless integration.
It seamlessly integrates with other systems like Kulim Foreign Worker (KFOR), Weighbridge, SAP, and Power BI. This integration eliminates silos, redundancies, improves data access, prepares for contingencies, fosters growth and development, and enhances overall operational and strategic efficiency.
KFOR
Our new integrated Foreign Worker Management System (KFOR) creates greater efficiencies to store relevant data on our foreign workers and integrated with KPlant system to manage them within our checkroll.
SUPERVISORY CONTROL AND DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM (SCADA) SYSTEM
Aids mill operations by providing continuous monitoring for enhanced safety, reducing manual errors through automation, streamlining workflow for optimised resource utilisation, improving decision-making with real-time data and trend analysis, optimising energy use for cost savings, and enhancing quality control to boost market competitiveness.
By utilising the system, mill operators can precisely manage key stages of the palm oil extraction process such as sterilisation, digestion, and clarification. This ensures maximum oil yield and quality, reduces waste, and minimises environmental impact. Furthermore, SCADA’s predictive maintenance capabilities allow for proactive equipment servicing, thereby reducing costly downtime and improving overall operational efficiency.
MECHANISATION
THE NEXT STEP OF OUR TECHNOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATION
With this goal in mind, we took it upon ourselves to invent proprietary mechanised equipment and machinery. Our quality standards and efficiency improvements are industry-leading not just to us, but also to our peers - which is why we also supply our range of products and even offer highly-personalised solutions to other agricultural players in the market.
AUTOMATION
TAKING OUR TRANSFORMATION PROCESS ONE LEVEL FURTHER
While our mechanised solutions are best in field, they are still manned and thus, do not reach 100% efficiency when in use. This is where automation comes in - the turning point of the next frontier in the industry. Fully remote, unmanned and pre-programmed, our automation initiatives allow us to capture the most accurate data every time without human error or miscalculation.
AUTOMATED LABORATORY
INSTRUMENT
Equipped with the latest testing equipment including Inductive Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrophotometer (ICP-OES), Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS), UV Spectrophotometer and Nitrogen Auto Analyser, to provide fast and reliable sample analysis for both in-house and external customers.
DRONE / UAV
MAPPING
Aerial mapping and remote sensing provides a base for Precision Agriculture implementation by collecting information such as a quick overview on land usage, canopy colour/size and overall estate features. The use of AI technology aids in palm counting, improving palm census efficiency and accuracy.
